Football squares is the simplest pool there is: no football knowledge needed, and every player has a chance until the last whistle. The board is a 10Γ10 grid. One team runs across the top and the other down the side. Each square is where one digit for each team meets, so a square might be βTeam A 7, Team B 0.β At the end of each quarter, look at the last digit of each team's score. The square where those two digits meet wins.
Dad 10). Press Fill empty squares at random and they're placed on open squares. You can also tap any square and type a name, which is handy when people pick their own squares.Type each team's score in the score boxes at the end of the first quarter, at halftime, at the end of the third quarter, and at the final whistle. The tool highlights the winning square for each period and fills in the winner and payout below the board. Only the last digit counts: a score of 17 to 10 is a 7 for one team and a 0 for the other.
Because football scores move in 3s and 7s, some last digits come up far more often than others. Squares with 0, 3, 4 and 7 tend to win more often, while 2 and 5 rarely do. That is why the numbers are drawn at random after everyone has picked: nobody can choose a good square on purpose. If your crowd wants every square to feel fair, some pools redraw the numbers at the start of each quarter. Press Draw the numbers again to do that, and note it on the sheet.
Pools played for money are not legal everywhere. Check your state and local rules, or play for fun and prizes instead. Squares works just as well for any football game, from the playoffs to a college rivalry.
Players claim squares on a 10x10 grid. Once the board is full, the digits 0 to 9 are drawn at random along the top and side, one set for each team. At the end of each quarter, the square where the last digit of each team's score meets wins that quarter.
After every square is claimed. Drawing first lets people pick the squares with the best numbers, which is unfair to everyone else.
Two common splits are 25% for each quarter, or 20% for the first quarter, halftime and third quarter with 40% for the final score. Agree on it before the game starts.
In most pools, yes: the final payout uses the official final score, including overtime. Write your rule on the sheet before kickoff so nobody argues later.
