How to make and play Thanksgiving bingo

Making your cards

  1. Start with the word list: the box already holds 32 Thanksgiving words, from “Turkey” and “Gravy” to “Food coma” and “Leftovers.” Edit it like any text box, one word or short phrase per line. With the free space on you need at least 24 different entries. Blank lines and repeats are skipped, including repeats that differ only in capital letters. To get the original words back after editing, pick “Thanksgiving classics (32)” under Quick-fill and press “Fill my list.”
  2. How many cards: 1 to 100 per batch, with 8 filled in to start. Make one per guest plus a couple of spares for late arrivals.
  3. Cards per page: “1 (extra large)” prints one big card per sheet, the easiest for small children and older relatives to read. 2 prints two wide cards, 4 a two-by-two grid, and 6 three across in two rows, which saves the most paper.
  4. Event / title (optional): up to 50 characters, such as “Family Thanksgiving 2026” or “Friendsgiving at Sam’s.” It appears at the top of every card.
  5. Free center space: on by default. Switch it off and every card has 25 words, so your list needs at least 25.
  6. Press “Generate cards,” then “Print.” Each card gets its own shuffle of your list. The title, cards per page and free space update the cards on screen as you change them; after editing the word list, press Generate again.

Two ways to play at the table

Called game: write each word on a slip of paper, fold the slips and draw them from a bowl. Read the word, set the slip aside, and keep going until someone completes a line. The B-I-N-G-O letters are decoration only, so any word can sit in any column.

Spotting game: no caller needed. Players mark a square when the thing happens or appears during the day: the parade on TV, a football game, someone asking for the wishbone, a relative dozing off on the couch. It fills the long stretch between arriving and eating, and works on the drive too. Agree in advance who confirms a mark, so arguments are settled quickly.

Making the list your own

How long a game lasts

Each card shows 24 of your words (25 without the free space). With the default 32 words, cards share most of their squares, so lines come quickly and two or three players may win on the same call. That suits a short round between dinner and dessert. For a big family or a full class, add words until the list has 40 to 60, which spreads wins out. For a longer game, play to blackout.
